Movie Story

Ten years after their last meeting, Nathanaël meets Marc in New York. Their lives had gone a long way: Nathanaël has just finished a film on the problem of access to water in India, and Marc exports bottled water for a multinational company in New York.

An accident interrupts Marc’s “American dream” that, immobilized in bed, ends up watching a whole series of documentaries on the “commodification of the world” that Nathanaël before leaving. From that moment on, his conscience will no longer leave him in peace. Marc forgets his career plans and reaches Nathanaël in India, where an improvised epic begins. Equipped with a small camera and microphone, Marc and Nathanaël,  try to understand what has led to the current state of crisis and where change can be made. From India to Guatemala, through San Francisco and Ardèche, their beliefs begin to waver.

Built around authentic testimonies, doubts and joys, their initiatory journey is an invitation to reconsider our relationship with nature, happiness and the meaning of life. 87 minutes to regain confidence in our ability to bring change to ourselves and society.

Alla ricerca di un senso is a documentary film project born from an observation shared by an increasing number of people: our Western society is sick; trapped in a perverse mechanism that generates more destruction, injustice and frustration than balance, harmony and well-being. The overriding need to make a profit in the short term depends on safeguarding the common good and common sense. This predatory mentality has now become the norm, casting a dark shadow over the future of us all. To get out of this downward spiral, the problem is not to have more knowledge, more technology, or to move towards greater economic growth. What we need is to regain possession of common sense, wisdom.
