At 87 years of age, Alejandro Jodorowsky, writer, cartoonist and director of classics such as El Topo and La Montagna Sacra, gives us a wonderful film, as described by the critics, full of life and emotions. Poesia senza fine is the second autobiographical chapter of the artist of Chilean origin. It begins precisely where La danza della realtà (The dance of reality, chronicle of the author’s Chilean childhood) is interrupted.
In the turmoil of the Chilean capital of the 1940s and 1950s, Alejandrito Jodorowsky, 20, decided to become a poet. This decision was against the will of his family. Immersed in the artistic and bohemian world of the time, he became acquainted with Enrique Lihn, Stella Diaz, Nicanor Parra and many other young writers who became masters of modern South American literature. Surrounded by this universe of intellectuals and poetic experimentation, he lived his life as few dared to live: sensually, authentically, freely, madly.
Poesia senza fine is an ode to life and love that makes you laugh and cry. Sex, love, friendship, passion, family, religion, death, all that makes a life, is told by Jodorowsky with his surreal and psychedelic language that has always enchanted and hypnotized us. An ironic and funny vein snakes in the film that, overloaded with feeling and lyricism, manages to keep the spectator’s attention alive, giving moments of pure cinema.
